B-TUK – Mortar reinforcement mesh

B-TUK is a reinforcement mesh made from high-tenacity polyester yarns, coated with PVC to increase structural efficiency, reduce wear, increase service life and reduce construction costs. The mesh was specially developed to structure the coating (plaster/rendering) of buildings, with the aim of giving greater resistance to the work. It can be used as a façade structure of large thicknesses, as an interface between bricks and concrete structure, structure on waterproofed surfaces such as swimming pools, planters, water mirrors, baseboard, among others, and as reinforcement of floor mortar on waterproofed or non-waterproofed surfaces.

DETAILS

General characteristics of the product:
  • High tenacity polyester yarns with PVC coating;
  • Improves the mechanical stability of the system;
  • Resistant to the alkalis of Portland cement coatings;
  • Its low weight makes it easier to handle and apply the mesh, increasing productivity;
  • It does not have a minimum thickness for coating;
  • Reduced risk of accidents at work, as it is a polymeric mesh;
  • Resistant to the cyclical stresses of thermal movements;
  • B-TUK’s flexibility makes it easier to use in curved structures and with corners;
  • It is not affected by external and corrosive agents, and can be used in structures in direct contact with water;
  • In some cases, it can reduce the use of concrete in the subfloor;
  • The use of fasteners can be discarded, depending on the designer.
Usage information: The B-TUK mesh is sold in dimensions that normally adapt to the reinforcement needs. However, depending on the façade project, the mesh can be cut with scissors or a utility knife on a flat surface. It is recommended to reuse the mesh cut at the knot after the required length and/or width, leaving a hem of a dimension close to the mesh opening. The area of the nodes under great stress and the cut close to them can weaken them and compromise the functionality of the B-TUK. Use:
  • Swimming pool lining;
  • Curved structures and subfloor reinforcement;
  • Fence and bricks/structure interface (beam and pillar) on facades;
  • Openings (doors and windows) and cladding with thicknesses greater than 30mm.
How it works:
  • With temperature variation, materials tend to EXPAND and SHRINK.
  • At the interface where different materials meet, stresses (due to temperature variation) are generated and transmitted through all layers of the cladding, which cannot withstand the stresses. Fissures and cracks are the result of this stress relief on the external face of the facade.
  • The B-TUK mesh can be used at the interface between bricks/structure.
  • By installing the mesh, the tensions generated by thermal movement are absorbed, causing micro-cracks internally, helping to reduce fissures or cracks on the external surface of the coating. This ensures the durability of the facade.
